COLLABORATION
AND UNITY AMONG HISPANIC MINISTRIES
By Roberto Hodgson
On
July 16, the Hispanic ministries of Joplin District and North
Arkansas met together for a combined service at the Nazarene Hispanic
church in Rogers in Arkansas. The pastor of the church is Rev.
Manuel Rodriguez. The North Arkansas and Joplin Districts work
together in several ways including ministerial education. Recently
they also celebrated their first family camp together.
We congratulate Dr. Carlos Sol, Hispanic Ministries Coordinator
of the North Arkansas District and Rev. Moises Marquez, Hispanic
Ministries Coordinator of the Joplin District for their exemplary
collaboration and vision leadership.
On
July 23, at Olivet Nazarene University a good representation of
the Hispanic congregations of the region gathered to receive the
evangelism training using the Jesus Film in DVD in homes presented
by Rev. Leonel DeLeon and Rev. Roberto Hodgson. Rev. Brian Wilson,
District Superintendent of the Central Chicago District helped
in the coordination of the event and shared the morning devotional
message. Rev. Wilfredo Canales, ministerial education advisor
for the region, assisted with the registration. Twelve pastors
and representation of their churches totaling 38 people were in
attendance. Olivet University provided the use of its facilities
for the event.
The
First Church of New Albany, Mississippi was the site on Saturday,
August 6. A historic first gathering of the Hispanic New Albany
church and the Hispanic Ruston church of the Louisiana District
met for the Jesus Film seminar presented by Rev. Roberto Hodgson.
Rev. Rick Free, Hispanic Ministries Coordinator of the Mississippi
District and Pastor of the Hispanic congregation in New Albany
coordinated the event.
Rev. Bob Hudson, Pastor of the Hispanic church in Ruston, traveled
six hours to New Albany to attend the seminar. These two churches
not only represent two different districts, but also two different
regions---Trevecca and SNU. The Jesus Film conference is promoting
unity and cooperation among the Hispanic churches of different
districts and regions.
