CHRISTIAN CENTERS, INC. GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION
A Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center
On
Saturday, August 27th, the Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc.
held the official grand opening of the New North Center Facility.
The building was bursting with people from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. Over 650 people came to show their support of the Center.
Tours of the new facility were given throughout the day. Guests
commented often on how they were impressed with the facility as
well as the staff who gave the tours.
The
ceremonial crowd was diverse. City officials, community leaders,
ministers, businessmen, donors, news media, family and friends
all joined the celebration.
The
morning ceremony was opened with the National Anthem and Amazing
Grace by Marguerite Piazza Bergholtdt. The opening prayer was
offered by City Councilwoman Barbara Swearengen-Holt. Jim Witherington,
Board Chairman, shared the vision of the center. Pastor Stephen
Young of Ardmore Terrace Baptist Church offered the dedicatory
prayer for the building which preceded the ribbon cutting ceremony
by Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Ballard, Directors; Ephie Johnson, Administrative
Director; and Board Chairman Jim Witherington. Rev. Eli Morris,
Associate Minister of Hope Presbyterian Church, offered the dedicatory
prayer for the "Service to the Community". The morning
was also filled with music by guest choirs from local churches.
The
afternoon concluded with additional tours being offered to those
of the community and performances by other guest choirs. Door
prizes were given with Michael Adrian Davis of 95.7 Hallelujah
FM was the host for the afternoon portion of the day.
For
many long time supporters, friends, and the Neighborhood Christian
Centers' staff, this was a very emotional and anticipated day
enjoyed by all. Special thanks to everyone who continue to support
and pray for our ministry efforts.
