Korean Mission Report
Stephen Lee

I just received a report from Rev. Kyung Yu in New England District.

He had the New Start Celebration Service held Aug. 28, 2005 and more than 150 people showed up. They had the first Sunday service this past Sunday and had 26 people including children attending.

I scheduled a meeting with Rev. Jerry Ferguson, D.S of L.A. I am bringing a Korean pastor who is non Nazarene but interested in joining the Church of the Nazarene.  He is pastoring a congregation of 40 people and looking for worship facility.

Rev. Song Je Hyuk a Nazarene pastor in Korea is preparing himself to come to Seattle area to begin a New Start. I went between Dr. Smith, the D. S. of Washington Pacific District, and Rev. Song. The encouraging news is that Brother Song has his relatives living in the area and about seven families are waiting for the opportunity to join the New Start with him. Dr. Smith said he would propose the project to the district committee meeting which would be held on Sept 15.

Rev. Eun Ho Kim who is currently working as an associate worker at Antioch Korean Church in Kansas City where Timothy Lee is pastoring asked me to be a bridge between his vision and a New Start in Phoenix, AZ.

As you are aware, last week we had a Korean Strategic Readiness Team RT conference combining with those representatives of the Association of the Korean American Churches. We had 4 SRT members and 5 Association representatives present at the meeting.

They were Kim Lundell(SRT), Timothy Lee(SRT), Samuel Chun(SRT), Stephen Lee(SRT)

Young Kang(Association), Brian Yi(Association), Sung Lee(Association), Joanne Noh(Association), and Soon Park(Association).

I think the conference was much-needed one.

Their (Non SRT members) feedback went something like this.

"Now I came to understand what the mission director and the SRT are all about."

I tried to utilize this conference to inform and educate not only the SRT members but also those non SRT key influencers of the Korean Fellowship.

I wanted to share with them my vision and delegate the task of finding potential ministry opportunities and solidifying existing ministries.

Rev. Chun has an existing congregation of 30 some members which doesn't belong to any denomination. He is interested in joining the Church of the Nazarene. I asked Rev. Ferguson to facilitate his ministry especially with the need of finding worship center.

Dr. Smith on Washington Pacific District finally gave an approval to Rev. Je Hyuk Song who is in Korea to come to his district to start a new Korean ministry.

I have a strong desire to make a trip to Atlanta, GA to look and search for an opportunity to have a new start.  Recent trend tells me that the area is receiving a great number of Korean influxes.
